Transport For NSW / Sydney Metro
Project
Sydney Metro West (SMW) has been identified as a major metro rail project in Sydney’s Rail Future, extending from Sydney CBD through to Parramatta CBD and the Westmead Hospital Precinct. Together with a broader program of rail upgrades, Sydney Metro West is expected to result in significant increase in the network capacity along the heavily congested T1 Line, reducing travel times and providing modern and safe transit facilities. These benefits will be experienced not only within the catchments of Sydney Metro West stations, but across the entire transport network.
Combined with enabling works such as infrastructure upgrades along the Western Line, Sydney Metro West is expected to allow up to 30 additional trains every hour between Parramatta and the Sydney CBD, as well as potentially extending to the south along the Illawarra Line Corridor.
